José María Garza Ponce, Engineer

José Ma. Garza Ponce

Founder of Grupo GP

Passionate about engineering and construction, engineer José Ma. Garza Ponce founded Constructora Garza Ponce in 1966 with the vision of driving Mexico’s development through projects that would transform cities and contribute to the industry’s growth.

He dedicated part of his life to educating new generations as a professor in the UANL School of Civil Engineering and served as president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry in Nuevo León in 1970.

Today, his legacy lives on in the values and principles that continue to guide Grupo GP.

60 Years of Building a Legacy

In August 2026, we celebrated six decades of history with a temporary exhibition at the Museo Metropolitano de Monterrey—a journey through the projects, moments, and people that have shaped our legacy.
