Construction of Industrial Building for the Expansion of Whirlpool in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Mexico.

GP Construcción successfully completed the construction of the expansion of the Whirlpool plant in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Mexico, consolidating its position as one of the leading construction companies specializing in industrial projects in the country.

A large-scale project

The project consisted of 22,000 m² of main building and 3,000 m² of exterior rooms, with an execution time of 18 months (April 2023 - September 2024). The plant is intended for the manufacture of refrigerators, integrating spaces for administrative offices, canteen, and operational areas with high-performance technology.

Challenges and innovative solutions

One of the biggest challenges was the construction of the new Ring Road, which was essential to enable the circulation of trailers and allow the continuous operation of the existing plant.
To achieve this milestone without affecting production, 18 hours of earthmoving work were carried out every day, divided into two shifts. Once the roadway was completed, construction of the main building began.

Scope of work

The comprehensive scope of the project included:

• Earthworks and foundations
• Concrete pavements
• Metal structure and metal roofing with TPO
• Fire protection system
• Low and medium voltage electrical installations
• HVAC, hydraulic and sanitary systems
• Special systems
• Construction of offices and dining room

Commitment to sustainability

 As part of the Green Office program, we received a visit from the State Director of Environmental Culture, Margarita Alba, and her coordinator, Lucía Rosales Campos, who presented the official appointments for the project's environmental committee.

In addition, in partnership with the Construyendo y Creciendo foundation, mobile classrooms were installed to promote the educational development of employees on site.
