Grupo GP Brings Its History and Iconic Projects to the Monterrey Metropolitan Museum to Celebrate Its 60th Anniversary

From August 4 to 31, 2026, the Museo Metropolitano de Monterrey hosted “Stories That Build: 60 Years of Creating a Legacy,” a temporary exhibition about the projects, people, and moments that have shaped Grupo GP’s history.

With this exhibition, Grupo GP celebrated its 60th anniversary in Monterrey, the city where its history began.

The Beginning of Six Decades of Construction

The story began in 1966, when José María Garza Ponce, an engineer, founded Constructora Garza Ponce. Over time, the company expanded its operations and gave rise to Grupo GP, which today is active in construction, real estate development, housing, and energy.

Over the course of six decades, the group has completed more than 900 projects and built more than 22 million square meters in Mexico. The exhibition featured photographs, documents, scale models, and stories from the people who were part of that journey.

Projects That Have Made History

Among the projects featured were the La Unidad Bridge, the BBVA Stadium, the Roberto Garza Sada Center at the University of Monterrey, and infrastructure projects such as the Santa Catarina Viaduct and the Monterrey Metro. The tour also showcased industrial projects for companies such as LEGO, BMW, Michelin, and Volvo.

Together, these projects showcase the various challenges that GP Construcción has taken on, ranging from infrastructure and public spaces to industrial projects.

What Happens Beyond Construction

One section was devoted to Grupo GP’s social responsibility initiatives in education, well-being, and community development. Among these, the work of the José María Garza Ponce Foundation and its relationship with the communities where the group operates were highlighted.

A Story That Continues

Holding the exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum allowed us to share the history of Grupo GP with the city where it was founded and where some of its most renowned works are located.

The anniversary was also an opportunity to recognize the people who have been part of that history. For GP Construcción, the journey continues with its projects and the teams working on them.
