Hangar FBO Los Cabos International Airport: engineering that raises the standards of airport infrastructure in Mexico

16/10/2025

As leaders in airport infrastructure in Mexico, GP Construcción developed the FBO Hangar at the Los Cabos International Airport, a project of high technical precision executed for Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), a Mexican company that manages, operates and develops airports in Mexico and abroad.

Located in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur, this project of more than 6,500 m² represents a new milestone in the airport's infrastructure, as it is the first hangar dedicated to general aviation in this terminal, designed to provide specialized aircraft storage and maintenance services.

With more than 6,500 m² of infrastructure, GP Construction's FBO Hangar in Los Cabos raises the standards of engineering and air connectivity.

A high-precision project in an operational area

The main challenge was to execute the work without interrupting the operation of the general aviation apron.

Construction took place in the Air Operations Area, in front of the aircraft parking stands, which required continuous coordination with the Operational Control Center and meticulous planning with the participation of all those involved: GAP's internal and external contractors, Operations, Operational Safety and Property Security areas.

In this way, GP Construcción was able to maintain the safety and operational functionality of the airport while the work progressed, consolidating its experience in projects within active airport environments.

Innovative engineering and construction systems

The FBO Hangar stands out for the implementation of the IntraSpace II three-dimensional modular metal structure system, used in both walls and roof.
This system, made up of spherical nodes and galvanized steel tubular profiles, allows greater clear spans without intermediate columns, guaranteeing high structural resistance to winds and earthquakes, and optimizing execution times thanks to its fully bolt-on system, which does not require welding or specialized labor.

With a clear span of 95.10 meters, the hangar offers a spacious, functional and efficient space, ideal for the business aviation and specialized service operations demanded by Los Cabos International Airport.

Scope of the project

Integral development included:

  • Executive project design.
  • Earthworks and foundations.
  • IntraSpace II modular metal structure.
  • Metal enclosure and cover.
  • Perimeter wall.
  • Interior and exterior floors of concrete reinforced with metallic fiber.
  • Sliding hangar door system.
  • Electrical, hydraulic, pluvial and sanitary installations.

Benefits for airport operations

The FBO Hangar becomes a new strategic asset for Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, offering a specialized space for aircraft storage and maintenance, protecting them from the weather conditions of the region and expanding the offer of general aviation services.

This project was developed in parallel with the expansion of Terminal 2 of the Los Cabos International Airport, also led by GP Construcción.
